  • Is Gaston Gran Fondo a race?
    • Gaston Gran Fondo is not designed as a race nor is it sanctioned by any cycle racing organization.  However, in the spirit of Gran Fondos, certain prizes will be awarded.
  • Prizes?  What prizes?
    • Gaston Gran Fondo will award prizes to the top 3 KOM segment winners.  Segments to be announced at a later date (Strava required).
  • Is there a minimum age for riders?
    • No.  However, anyone under the age of 18 will need a waiver signed by the child’s parent or guardian.
  • What if I can’t finish?
    • The ride has no forced drops or cutoffs.  However, if you fall too far behind, it is your responsibility to know your way back to the start.  Please ride within your capabilities and come prepared to service your own equipment as needed.
  • Will the roads be closed to traffic?
    • No.  However, careful planning has gone into the routes to ensure the most enjoyable ride experience possible.  Riders must obey all traffic laws and ride on the right side of the road.  All riders must sign a liability waiver.
  • Will there be aid stations/pit stops?
    • Aid stations will be located approximately every 15-20 miles.  The piccolo route will have one aid station.  Each station will have food, water, and basic medical supplies.
  • Will there be mechanics available on the route?
    • We encourage all riders to have an understanding of basic bike repairs.  Each rider should have their own pump and spare tubes.  We will try to obtain volunteer mechanics for the ride but assume no responsibility for the mechanical well-being of your bike.
  • What is the refund policy?
    • No refunds will be given.
  • What happens if it rains?
    • Gaston Gran Fondo will start no matter the weather, within reason.  If the weather is too severe we will do our best to reschedule the event.
  • Do I need a road bike to ride?
    • No.  Ride what you want to but please choose your route according to your bike of choice and your capabilities.
  • What equipment is required?
    • All riders are required to wear a properly fitted bike helmet.  Headphones of any kind are not allowed.  Rear flasher lights are encouraged.
  • Where is the ride located?
    • Gaston Gran Fondo will start and finish in Mount Holly.  Specific location will be announced at a later date.
  • How much does it cost?
    • Final pricing will be announced at a later date.  Registration fee includes post-ride meal ticket.
